A book a week: 2

Praise Be because I finished one of the books that has been sitting on my nightstand for six months.  And needs to be returned to the person I borrowed it from.

The book:
The Last Child, John Hart

So I said I wouldn't give reviews, but I couldn't help but say this one thing.  On the back of the book cover are the following quotes:
"Hart leads the reader down a thrilling, twisted path"
"It rises to serious literature"
Um, yeah, no.  Its a fun read.  It has a decent twist.  Things get resolved pretty well.  But the writing is kinda choppy, and some of the things the characters do are odd, with unclear motivation and no purpose.  Its not prose-y or lyrical to read.  Gotta love when the evil big bads go down and your hero resolves his quest.  And I'm a sucker for a kid who defies the rules.  But sometimes, it took some effort to pretend that inside I wasn't thinking "oh, common' seriously?"
